Childhood cancer refers to cancers that occur in children from birth through age 18. Unlike many adult cancers, childhood cancers are often not linked to lifestyle or environmental factors, they are largely the result of genetic changes that occur early in a child’s development, often before birth.
The most common childhood cancers include leukemia, brain and spinal cord tumors, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, lymphoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, and bone cancers. Each diagnosis is unique, and each child’s journey is their own.
